Issues for consideration
Note : “Other” type registrants are NOT notified by email of their account status until its been reviewed by WSDRS management . However our goal. outlined in the notes below is to move “other” type registrants under verifiable Canadian aviation document numbers, wherever possible.
Ideally - “Other” type registrations should be turned off, (stop saving this information to the database) and be substituted with an email sent to the WSDRS admin inbox with all of the requestor’s info. If CAWIS/WSDRS admin had the chance to review first, it would cut back on duplication of old Id’s, multiple requests when response is not immediate, requestors only looking to file an AAIR, and invalid requestors.
examples :
...
Does the requestor already have an account under the organization that they entered? If "yes", delete this new Userid and direct them to the existing account (example: the requestor declares an “other” “other” type account and calls the organization “AIR CANADA”)
Does the requestor already have an account anywhere else in WSDRS under different companies that they have previously worked for? If "yes", consider resetting the password on the older accounts under other organizations
Have they created a new “other” account/organization for an existing AMO/AOC? If "yes", move them under that AMO/AOC org, provided the domain of their email matches that of the members of that organization. We would the update their, submitter-type and license_number to match the new organization.
At intervals, review “other” organizations to see if they have possibly acquired an “active” AMO/AOC number.
Does the individual possibly have an AME number? If yes, change submitter type to AME, and enter their license number.
Does the individual possibly have a Pilot license number? Go to CAWIS MAIN MENU AAIR APPLICANT – search requestor name. If found, possibly approve the account, but keep under “other”.
Does the individual represent the media or a research company that would be unlikely to submit reports? If yes, possibly delete the userid - the public search facility should be sufficient
Does the individual represent a Civil Aviation Authority for which we already have users? If yes, move them under that caaCAA, and change the submitter-type to CAA
Does the individual represent a Civil Aviation Authority for which we have no users? If yes, change the submitter-type to CAA, and setup the new organization
Does the individual represent a manufacturer for which we already have TCH users? If yes, possibly move them under that TCH, and change the submitter-type to mfg/tch then assign models (always verify the requestor email domains)
Does the individual represent a manufacturer for which we have no users as yet? If yes, change the submitter-type to mfg/tch then assign models, taking care NOT to assign models not already assigned under other organizations.
Does the individual own an aircraft? Many users people register (with no intention of submitting SDR's) immediately after CAW publications requests an execution of the AAIR-EDM in the mistaken belief that an SDR account will assist them in submitting an AAIR
check if the EDM has run recently, and check if the requestor owns AAIR-eligible aircraft - forward the registration email to the AAIR-email adding a statement "this is an aair request", then change the password on the account to "delete"
If the requestor is specific about submitting SDR’s then approve the account
Some info required for decisions on account allocation can be found at "USER-AMO-AOC-AME-OWNERSREPORTS.xlsx" at \\ncrfs345\AARD\AARD Public\CAWIS-REPORTSavailable from the CAWIS reports menu ( currently called WSDRS - for some reason - under the NEW section )
