System Overview
Decommissioning completed May-2022 ( C254374 ) (PBI- 132519 )
The Video Logging Database (VLD) uses Microsoft Access to log and catalogue information from original camera videotapes.
MPS maintains the TC Camera Original and Raw Footage Video Library. Currently, the Video Library contains an estimated 1000 Camera Original and Raw Footage video tapes. Most of these tapes belong to Civil Aviation but other modes are starting the transfer of their video assets to MPS. The video footage contained on these tapes was originally shot as part of video productions undertaken by MPS or an outside video production company.
Camera Original and Raw Footage videos exist in various Standard Definition formats (e.g. BetacamSP, S-VHS, DVCPRO, DVCam and MiniDV) As well as various High Definition formats. These tapes are held at the MPS office location, MOT Level.
Each Camera Original and Raw Footage Video tape consists of a variety of shots. Each shot can be described as; for example: Shot Type, Shot description, location etc.
Each tape contains a control track or Time code, which would indicate the location of a particular shot on a tape. For Example 01:03:24:12. These series of numbers refer to Hours:Minutes:Seconds:Frames
MPS has a requirement for capturing the shot type, tape number, shot description etc for quick retrieval to use in future productions. MPS would be the sole user of this application. MPS Has begun the logging process
Purpose of website (or application):
To help Multimedia Publishing Services manage the approximately 1000 tapes of shots owned by the group. Each tape is 30 to 60 minutes in length and the database will identify which shots are on each tape. This will simplify retrieval when requests for shots are made.
Good To Know
from RDIMS #8046685 (Date: December 11, 2012) Decommissioning Request (C254374 May-2022)
Multi-Media Product and Services (AARA_MPS) has recently declared surplus a large amount of raw stock tape footage. These tapes had been associated with the Video Logging Database. There is no business need to continue to maintain the Video Logging System Database at this point as we no longer have the associated tapes in our possession. There will be no replacement database for this business need.
Decommission and remove all data from servers.
Note:There are no infrastructure items such as workflow, firewall rules, DNS, IP addressing, etc. and/or support processes that were associated with the application and/or database that need to be adjusted and/or decommissioned
Application will not be replaced because function is no longer needed. |
Requested Decommission Date: February 1st 2013
