Navigation Protection Program

In April 1, 2014, the Navigable Waters Protection Program (NWPP) was tranformed into the Navigation Protection Program (NPP).

It promotes safe navigation in Canada’s busiest waterways by responding to public concerns about interferences to navigation. The NPP also applies the Navigation Protection Act when authorizing works that interfere with navigation, like bridges, dams, docks, booms and power cables.
