The Northern Projects Management Office (NPMO) was established to improve the environmental review process for proposed major resource development and infrastructure projects in northern Canada. NPMO has a mandate to improve the timeliness, predictability and transparency of northern regulatory processes to foster a more stable and attractive investment climate in the territories.

Major Project Inventory contains both MPMO and NPMO Projects.

Remarks

  1. Compiling NPMO Projects requires some manual process as there is no readily available dataset available.

  2. NPMO Portal does not have export function for saving the project listing.

  3. Click on "Text description for the Map" below the map to display project listing.

  4. Copy/paste the chart in Excel spreadsheet and save as CSV file.

Process for EGIS integration.

CSV File Transformation:

  1. Copy/paste NPMO Project listing from website then save as an Excel spreadsheet.

  2. In FME, transform the Lat/Long as point.

  3. Output to KML, SHP or GDB as required

  4. Import into EGIS

TC Smart Maps:

  1. Not all GIS applications can consume KML file directly due to its unique data structures such as networklinks, folders, models etc.

  2. Please contact Lawrence Chong, Digital Services Directorate for TC Smart Maps KML dataset and format translation.
