Running an analysis tool

Attempting the ESRI tutorial of the same name .

Started by installing a GeoAnalytics server by following ESRI's how-to on Setting up ArcGIS GeoAnalytics Server . Jiehua put a license in our usual authorization repository.

A new machine was created in Dev matching the GIS0 machine:

RG: TC-DevTest-ArcGIS-RG VM: EGIS-DEV-GIS9.CLOUD.TC.GC.CA VN: TC-DevTest-Central-VNet Subnet: App_Subnet IP: 172.16.28.18 Machine admin: ArcGIS/??? Server Site admin: EGIS/???

The machine has been federated and set as the analytics server on our Dev portal instance: devweb.tcgis.ca

Create a Big Data File Share

You must first create a cloud store and point that to our sample data lake.

You need some connection information to Azure AD to make this work. Steps here . I used the Enterprise AAD which relates to our 034.onmicrosoft domain.

According to this quickstart , these fields should map to ESRI's requested fields as follows:

AAD Application ID -> Client ID AAD Application Key -> ??? Will try App ID Service Principle Key AAD Tenant ID -> Tenant ID

The cloud team created an app registration and provided the keys we needed:

App ID: 7f836afb-4d79-4144-8829-8f68e21012ed App Key: a46GKwSKcU/C82cpkarWS5ykuk3AMu8RDH4UxD/U3Jo= Tenant ID: 2008ffa9-c9b2-4d97-9ad9-4ace25386be7 (from AAD)

ADL Gen2 is not supported

I haven't been able to connect and it's due to starting with a Gen 2 data lake. I have threads on GeoNet tracking my problems:
https://community.esri.com/message/843339-configuring-a-cloud-store-with-an-azure-data-lake

I'll start this process again with a Gen 1 data lake, as there's no timeline for this gen 2 support but >= 10.7.1.

ADL Gen 1 Not Regionally Available

It looks like I can't create a Gen1 data lake to play with.
I checked with the cloud team and learned they could make me one, but that it probably isn't worth it, which I read to mean that gen1 is deprecated.

  • Check if I can create a Gen 1 data lake No

  • Geoanalytics server is available (license is on Azure file share)
