Municipal District
Description
Canada is divided into ten provinces and three territories.
Each province has a different system of local government which may include upper-tier or rural jurisdictions such as counties, municipal districts, regional municipalities, regional districts or regional county municipalities. These divisions are then divided into lower-tier or urban jurisdictions such as cities, towns, villages, townships, and parishes.
Municipal District are used by agencies at all levels of government for land use planning, treaty negotiations, emergency management and planning, running elections, conducting demographic analysis and municipal planning.

SHP File:
SHP file can be integrated directly into EGIS.
TC Smart Maps:
Not all GIS applications can consume KML file directly due to its unique data structures such as networklinks, folders, models etc.
Please contact Lawrence Chong, Digital Services Directorate for TC Smart Maps KML dataset and format translation.
