Import and Export CSV

Importing a CSV file

If the CSV file contains the coordinates (latitude and longitude) in two separated columns it is possible to import the file directly in the Portal and use it as a layer in a map. The two columns must be named as follows:

Latitude fields: lat, latitude, y, ycenter

Longitude fields: lon, long, longitude, x, xcenter

There are three different ways to import the CSV file to the portal

Drag and Drop

Drag the file located in the local machine and drop it on the map in the browser.

Any user, even anonymous user, can use the drag and drop feature however only a user level 2 (User or Publisher) will be able to save the map or to save the layer.

Add Layer from File

Another option is it to add the file through the portal interface. To do so in the map click on “Add” and “Add Layer from File”.

Select the file in your local machine and click “Import Layer”

Add Layer from Web

If the CSV is hosted in the web it is possible to add it directly to the map by clicking on “Add Layer from Web”

Pick the “A CSV File” option from the drop-down menu, input the “URL” and click on “Add Layer”

Save CSV as Hosted Layer

To save the CSV layer as a Hosted Layer (a separated item in the portal that can be used in other maps) click on “…” (More Options) in the CSV layer

And clink on “Save Layer”

Fill the pop-up form and the layer will be available in your “Content”

Exporting as CSV file

Some layers, if enabled by the owner, will allow export to other files. If the layer allows it the option “Export To” should be visible under “Layers” section. Click on “Export to CSV file”

Fill the pop-up form and click on “Export”

The new CSV file will be saved in your “Content” and can be downloaded by accessing the item details and click on “Download”
