UX Designer/Business Analyst on-boarding: Raymond Violette
Responsibilities of the Web Designer (UX) / Business Analyst Level 3 may include but are not limited to:
Identifying and supporting the use of design thinking tools, methodologies and techniques to gather user needs and requirements;
Championing the use of the User Centered Design methodology through education and awareness raising among stakeholders;
Utilizing task analysis and observation techniques to understand user needs;
Understanding user needs and identifying opportunities to be more user-centric;
Understanding the existing supporting system of the TSIS 2.0 service and design targeted improvements to that system to accommodate the new service - both digital and process based;
Working in close collaboration with the TSIS 2.0 development team, participate in the definition of data attributes to capitalize on effective use of native and previously customized Dynamics entities;
Engaging directly with existing and new users to understand the jobs they perform, the pain points they have, and the value the TSIS 2.0 can deliver to them.
Documenting forms, manuals, programs, data files, and procedures in support of the TSIS 2.0;
Work with Product Owners and Agile Scrum teams to create, maintain and communicate product backlog items;
Creating, maintaining and presenting product-related artefacts such as wireframes, mockups, experience maps, workflows, specifications, etc. at scrum ceremonies (e.g., review, grooming sessions);
Understanding user and functional requirements, derived from business requirements for the development of the system, and create user stories for the development team;
Mentoring full time Transport Canada's employees, as needed.
The Web Designer (UX) / Business Analyst Level 3 deliverables for the TSIS 2.0 may include but are not limited to:
Developing task flows and wireframes based on user needs
Designing graphic user interface elements, like menus, tabs, forms, and widgets for the TSIS 2.0
Conducting usability testing sessions with users to validate proposed designs and workflows, and communicating findings to stakeholders and at scrum ceremonies (e.g., review, grooming sessions).
Using qualitative and quantitative data to create user stories, profiles, personas and journey maps to support user-centric development of the TSIS 2.0.
Performing education and awareness raising among stakeholders through various means, e.g., coaching / training sessions
Working with the appropriate stakeholders to identifying and design departmental service patterns and standards that scale (where appropriate and feasible) for the benefit of TSIS 2.0 and Transport Canada;
Assessing the impact of the new user-centric design on the TSIS 2.0 and end users;
Monitoring the need for design changes as the TSIS 2.0 progresses and adjusting / updating as appropriate;
Comparing the user experience of existing applications and working and design better alternatives; and
In collaboration with the product owners, develop test plans for User Acceptance testing of the system.
