How do I add more rows or columns to a table?

Figma allows for many basic overrides to component instances, such as colour, opacity and text. It is also possible to control the visibility of nested components. For example, if the main Tab Strip component contains five tabs, but your page only requires three, you can hide the extra tabs from the Layers panel.

Unfortunately, adding more instances of a nested component, such as tabs in a tab strip or columns in a table, requires detaching your component. This is a current limitation of Figma.

Recommended Solution

To solve for this, you can use the construction elements components and create a local component in your project file. The construction element components will maintain their link to the library and will receive any updates. This will also allow you to build a main component that is specific to your unique project.
