Query Manufacturer - enter full or partial manufacturer name then select from list
Modify manufacturer - The Inspectors occasionally update a manufacturer spelling, or country. A spelling change requires that the auto-correct tables be updated first. All instances of the old spelling of that manufacturer need to be updated on Z980 in the To_txt column. A future enhancement should auto-update the TO_txt column to the new manufacturer value, without having the user enter the Term Conversion module. Also, the Term Conversion module should have a link directly within Manufacturer maintenance, it doesn`t logically belong under General properties.

The 20 character limits for both Manufacturer and Model are a carry-over from the old mainframe systems and should possibly be revisited, but a careful review of system wide impacts would be required. (examples: the AAIR printout, the dropdowns in the AD, WSDRS, PTS, AMOC, TSB subsystems etc… )
If the manufacturer being entered exists in the from_txt of the Z980_term_conversion tables, but points to another existing manufacturer, this page will raise a “duplicate” error on the save. If this occurs, go to the Term_conversion module, and either :

This feature is only used for Equipment AD’s. The new manufacturer is assigned whatever country_code is assigned to the AD being entered.

The NAPA interface is used in the Airworthiness Directive subsystem to assist with data entry. The TI selects a TC-holder from NAPA, which then maps all of the approval number (TC_code or Foreign_num from V_CAW_TC_HOLDER_NAPA@NNPRODC.WORLD) back to CAWIS TATC-codes and populates the dropdowns with the associate mfg/models.
