  1. Query Manufacturer - enter full or partial manufacturer name then select from list

  2. Modify manufacturer - The Inspectors occasionally update a manufacturer spelling, or country. A spelling change requires that the auto-correct tables be updated first. All instances of the old spelling of that manufacturer need to be updated on Z980 in the To_txt column. A future enhancement should auto-update the TO_txt column to the new manufacturer value, without having the user enter the Term Conversion module. Also, the Term Conversion module should have a link directly within Manufacturer maintenance, it doesn`t logically belong under General properties.

3. Delete manufacturer - this works well for “new” entries made in error, but raises an exception for manufacturers in use on any table but Y60. This function is rarely used

Fill in the form as seen above - Note: Legal name is not used or viewed anywhere in CAWIS, and is generally filled in with common-name.

The 20 character limits for both Manufacturer and Model are a carry-over from the old mainframe systems and should possibly be revisited, but a careful review of system wide impacts would be required. (examples: the AAIR printout, the dropdowns in the AD, WSDRS, PTS, AMOC, TSB subsystems etc… )

The TC CAWIS user can define new, Aircraft, Engine, Propeller, Float and Ski manufacturers (and models) during 5008 modification. They can also do this on the internal AAIR page, the same as the client.

The NAPA interface is used in the Airworthiness Directive subsystem to assist with data entry. The TI selects a TC-holder from NAPA, which then maps all of the approval number (TC_code or Foreign_num from V_CAW_TC_HOLDER_NAPA@NNPRODC.WORLD) back to CAWIS TATC-codes and populates the dropdowns with the associate mfg/models. CAWIS picks up any values from the TC-holder column that do not exist on Y60_manufacturer and either
