How to set up Custom DNS (*.tc.gc.ca)

It’s nicer to have a custom domain instead of something like pcpseafarerapp-seafarer-dashboard.azurewebsites.net. To do so, we will follow this tutorial using CNAME: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/app-service/app-service-web-tutorial-custom-domain?tabs=cname

TC’s IP is 198.103.96.11

TC’s Azure App Gateway is 52.139.2.228

Instructions

  1. Get the domain verification ID

  2. Duplicate ticket C243805 in SMGS and update it with the corresponding values specific to your request. Keep closing the phase until it is in the Change Assessment & Planning phase.
(if this is assigned to the support group to which you are not belong to, you won’t be able to change the status to Change Assessment & Planning phase. so, please reach out to effective Cloud team contact to take it over. and you can skip to step 4 in this case after close Change Review phase)

  3. Send an email to peter.abercrombie@tc.gc.ca asking him to verify that you entered everything correctly and ask him to forward to SSC.

  4. Once SSC has created the External DNS entries, continue from step 5 of the tutorial: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/app-service/app-service-web-tutorial-custom-domain?tabs=cname#5-enable-the-mapping-in-your-app.

  5. Contact TC3oE or your Cloud Ambassador to set up the application gateway.

  6. If your app is internal only, add 2x Access Restrictions as follows:

  7. Enjoy your new subdomain.
