👋 Hey, Tarek!

Welcome to Transport Canada’s Rail Safety team. We're glad you're are joining us!

We’ve put together this onboarding plan to help you get up to speed in your new role as a summer student on the Rail Occurrence Follow-up (ROF) team. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions 🙂

- Will, Dave and Maggie

🧭 Guiding thoughts

  • Take time to gain familiarity with the working environment, and get to know the team. In your first 60 days, try to focus on getting comfortable with the ROF environment, and learning how things work. You will start to get to know your team members and feel comfortable asking questions.

  • Continue to learn scrum processes, and gain comfortability completing tasks. After your first two months, you'll start to become more comfortable with scrum processes, as well as working through tasks and completing them. Of course, you will continue to get to know your teammates.

  • Don't be afraid to ask. No one expects you to know how things work right away. Take advantage of that and ask the team for help when you need it.
