Notices

Overview

The Notices card and Notice menu bar let administrators manage service notices. The notice pages can only be accessed if the administrator has any of the following permissions on at least one MTOA supported service:

  • Create Notice

  • Read Notice

  • Delete Notice

  • Update Notice

  • Duplicate Notices

Note: An administrator with the special permission "Create and invite users in any service" in myTC Account Administration service needs to be enrolled in a given service with permissions as described above to read and manage notices.

The “Manage Notices” page can be accessed by administrators with the “Read Notices” permission.

When a user is assigned to a specific service with some permissions for notices in that service, those permissions are applicable to all notices created for that service.

Edit, Preview, and Delete are available on Current Notices.
Duplicate and Preview are available on Expired Notices.

Add New Notice

This option allows administrators to create new notices and requires the Create Notice permission. Without this permission, the “Add a new notice“ button will not be displayed.

 

Edit Notice

This option allows administrators to update notices and requires the Update Notice permission. If there is no update notice permission on a given service, the Edit button will not be displayed.

Note: If you are using Internet Explorer, a message will indicate the time format since Internet Explorer does not support time feature.

Type of Notices

  • Information outage: Use planned outage notices to inform the user of the dates when an application will be offline.

  • Unplanned outage: Use unplanned outage notices to inform the user when an application is unexpectedly offline.

  • Information notice: Use the information notice type to present important new information about an application. Not for use for planned or unplanned outages.

  • Warning: Use the warning notice type to present to warn users of a service affecting issue. Not for use for planned or unplanned outages.

Service

This field displays a list of supported services based on the current administrators permissions.
For example, on the Create Notice page, the services displayed are those where the administrator has the Create Notice permission. Similarly, on the Edit Notice page, the services displayed are those where the administrator has Edit Notice permissions. To select more than one service from the list you must hold the CTRL key on the keyboard.

  • Unplanned Outage/Planned Outage: More than one service can be selected. At least, one service has to be selected.

  • Information Notice/Warning: only one service has to be selected.

Display date and Display time (only applicable to Planned notice)

The display start date time of the planned notice.

  • The Display date time should be before the End date time.

Start/End date (only applicable to Planned notice, Information notice, Warning notice)

Planned notice: The start and end date of the planned outage.
Information notice: The start and end date to display the information notice.
Warning notice: The start and end date to display the Warning notice.

  • The Start date time should be before the End date time.

  • The End date time should be before the current date time.

Start/End time (only applicable to Planned notice, Information notice, Warning notice)

Planned notice: The start and end time of the planned outage.
Information notice: The start and end time to display the information notice.
Warning notice: The start and end time to display the Warning notice.

  • For notices created in the same day, the end time has to occur after the start time

Forecast date and Forecast time (only applicable to Unplanned notice)

Unplanned outage notices will be visible until the forecast date time

  • Forecast date time should not be before the current date time.

English/French notice - Title (only applicable to Information Notice/Warning)

This is the text that will be displayed in the notice header.

English/French notice - Body (only applicable to Information Notice/Warning)

This is the text that will be displayed in the body of the notice.

Save

Saves the notice and returns to the Notices list page.

Cancel

The process of adding or editing a notice is cancelled and you are redirected to the Notices list page.

Preview

The Preview button allows administrators to preview notices. It requires Read Notice permission.

 

Delete

Delete removes a notice from the list and requires Delete Notice permission. However, if a given notice affects many services, the administrator must have the delete permission in all the affected services to be able to delete the notice. Before deleting a notice a confirmation message is displayed.
After confirmation, the notice is removed from the notices list.  

 

Without delete permission, even in one of the affected services, delete button will not be displayed as shown below.

Validation

This is an example of a validation summary. A link to the field where the validation failed is provided. The field where the validation failed will also have a message.

Duplicate Notice

This option allows administrators to create a duplicate of a notice. Duplicate button is available on expired notices. When the Duplicate button is clicked, it opens a “Add Notice” form loading the data of the selected notice.
