Discussed performance and installation difficulties using Azure files for ESRI shared config folders.

Adiy confirmed that Azure files will be 'orders of magnitude' slower than a file share on a server hosted in our subnet. He suggested looking at Storage Spaced Direct when setting up a file server, and he could assist as needed.

Adiy also suggested that since azure files are routed through the public internet, that they may not be certified to handle protected B data, at least not in an out of the box fashion.

Although Azure files are routed publically, Adiy did not think that routing was the reason for our performance problems.

Follow-up
Adiy has since followed up suggesting guest clustering , and offering to aid in setting this up.
