System Overview

The Flight Training and Aviation Education (FTAE) computer system is designed to utilize data compiled from flight test reports and written examination answer sheets.

 

FTAE is the central hub for the following applications:

  • CDE Internal – the interface to FTAE is real-time. If FTAE is down, the CDE Internal cannot function. The CDE internal is used for internal exams, but most of the examination information resides within the FTAE database and therefore, if FTAE is down, so is the CDE Internal.

  • CDE External – The CDE external is used for external exams. Exams are downloaded though GALRO, which accesses the FTAE database through the DMZ. Furthermore, once an external exam has been graded, it is uploaded through GALRO and the DMZ into the FTAE database.

  • GALRO communicates with external clients allowing them access to change addresses and reserve marks. This access will not be available during the outage.

  • TTSP (AMES) – AME checks exam results into the FTAE database.

  • DAPLS gets flight test information on a nightly basis from FTAE

  • NACIS sends and receives training unit information from/to FTAE.

  • CAS searches/displays Flight Training Units data of FTAE

  • FTAE Internal (web application) displays Flight Training Units data and updates them

  • CADORS receives a daily feed from CCARCSE. This daily feed will not be available during the outage.

  • AMES displays real-time exam results from FTAE.

  • MTOA Service connects to FTAE for Monitor form
