FIELD NAME

TABLE(s)

DESCRIPTION

REGISTRATION MARK

AIRCRAFT_MARK_ID

Y02_AIRCRAFT_HISTORY

allocated by CCARCS, can be changed by the aircraft owner through a CCARCS process, or a new tail mark is allocated when a previously registered aircraft, re-registers.

All Canadian tail marks are prefixed with “CF”,”CG”, or “CI” (CI is for ultralights only) .

The “C” prefix is omitted throughout CAWIS.

A Tail Mark can only occur ONCE on the current aircraft register, but can be seen occurring multiple times on deregistered aircraft.

Tail mark is unchangeable in CAWIS.

AIRCRAFT ID

AIRCRAFT_ID

Y01_AIRCRAFT

a 7 digit numeric identifier allocated by CCARCS.

An Aircraft tail mark may change over time, but its aircraft_id remains the same throughout its existence in CCARCS and CAWIS

NOTE: There is no field on this page, which indicates to the user if an aircraft resides on the current register or if it has been deregistered and archived (aircraft id exists on Y93_CCARCS_PREVIOUS_DAY) . [ER]The users need a registered/deregistered indicator somewhere at the top of the screen

COFR ISSUE DATE

DATE_C_OF_R_ISSUE_DTE

Y02_AIRCRAFT_HISTORY

Certificate of Registration date is allocated by CCARCS, on any new aircraft registry or after an ownership change

AAIR SUBMISSION ALLOWED

n/a

M01_AIRCRAFT_AAIR_REPORT

Was this aircraft sent an AAIR request (M01 record exists) for the current reporting year (current year - 1) and is the Received date null ? If yes, AAIR submission is allowed.

LAST AAIR NOTIFICATION SENT BY TC

DATE_REPORT_ISSUE_DTE

M01_AIRCRAFT_AAIR_REPORT

Date that the most recent AAIR notification was sent to the owner of this aircraft (Allocated during the EDM process)

COFA ANNIVERSARY (MM/DD)

DATE_C_OF_A_ISSUE_DTE

Q01_AIRCRFT_FLGHT_ATHTY

[ER] Please remove this field, from this page.

The Certificate of Airworthiness anniversary date was only used for AAIR scheduling under the old AAIR distribution system, when forms were printed and mailed out weekly

DUE DATE

DATE_AAIR_DUE_ALT_DTE

Y02_AIRCRAFT_HISTORY

The column name, DATE_AAIR_DUE_ALT_DTE is misleading in that it used to be used for special/alternate AAIR due dates on owner request under the old weekly distribution system.

It is now ONLY used as the sole due-date for a given aircraft.

There are only 2 due dates presently permitted

30-MARCH - this is the default

30-MAY - manually allocated by the publications section on Owner request.

Any aircraft that has not filed an AAIR by 30-MAY is considered Overdue and is re-contacted during the overdue EDM processes

FLEET NUMBER

FLEET_ID

Y02_AIRCRAFT_HISTORY

Fleet Numbers are allocated through the AAIR subsystem by operator request. They cannot be altered on the 5008 page.

A fleet number ties several aircraft together for AAIR reporting purposes.

Aircraft having a Fleet number are not processed by the EDM notification system.

Fleet owners are emailed a spreadsheet containing all the tombstone information for their aircraft, which they fill in or alter then send back to TC with their flight hours.

Fleets are maintained MANUALLY by the Aircraft Certification publications unit, though a reference table of Fleet-numbers and client-id’s for each fleet exists in Z980_TERM_CONVERSION where term_type_cd = ‘FLEET’

FLEET NAME

NAME_COMMON_NM

Y59_FLEET,

Y56_ORGANIZATION

Owner/operator of this fleet. Name is allocated by the CAW publications unit under AAIR maintenance.

USER ID

CLIENT_ID

Y50_PARTY

An AAIR “userid” is actually a CCARCS client_id associated with this owner/operator. Allocated by CCARCS, unchangeable in CAWIS

CLIENT_ID / HASHED(PARTY_ID) is the default userid/password for entering the external AAIR submission page (unless the operator has allocated a user selected password)

SALE REPORTED

SALE_REPORTED

Y93_CCARCS_PREVIOUS_DAY

If the sale reported indicator is “Y” on Y93, the ownership of this aircraft is changed to “Unknown”

This indicates that the last known owner of the aircraft, reported a sale, but the new owner has not identified themselves to TC. This happens often in the case of destroyed aircraft, where the insurance company takes possession, the aircraft is unsalvageable, and no one follows through with the deregistration procedure in CCARCS

INVALID ADDRESS

ACTIVE_FLAG

Y93_CCARCS_PREVIOUS_DAY

Values in CCARCS are, “A” active, “I” inactive.

If an aircraft (address) is marked Inactive on Y93, the ownership of this aircraft is changed to “Unknown” until such time as the addressing info can be corrected.

MULTIPLE OWNER

MULTIPLE_OWNER_FLAG

Y93_CCARCS_PREVIOUS_DAY

Values in CCARCS are, “Y” / “N”

This field is provided for informational purposes only.

An aircraft can be shared by multiple owners. However the owners select a “primary” owner, used for all correspondence.

CAWIS only imports the information for the primary owner.

Full ownership of an aircraft having multiple owners can be viewed here:

https://wwwapps.tc.gc.ca/Saf-Sec-Sur/2/CCARCS-RIACC/

CLIENT ID

CLIENT_ID

Y50_PARTY

CCARCS CLIENT_ID for this owner/operator. Unchangeable in CAWIS - [ER] Repeated from USERID, please remove

OWNER NAME

Y56.NAME_COMMON_NM

-OR-

Y55.NAME_LAST_NM +

Y55.NAME_FIRST_NM +

Y55.NAME_MIDDLE_NM

Y56_ORGANIZATION

-OR-

Y55_INDIVIDUAL

OWNER/OPERATOR NAME - allocated by CCARCS, unchangeable in CAWIS.

If a company has a Trade_name in CCARCS, this is appended onto y56.name_common_nm in CAWIS.

If an aircraft on the current register is “sale reported” - or - “invalid address” they are assigned unknown ownership until such time that these flags are removed in CCARCS

Party_id 9999999 = UNKNOWN, used for sale-reported/invalid address

Party_id 1 = Owner Unknown - For the purposes of producing Flight hours reports. This Party_id is used to backfill Historical ownership down to the earliest year of AAIR reporting (CAWIS does not have access to CCARCS history)

PHONE

ADDRESS_PROPERTY_TXT

A92_ADDRESS_PROPERTY

ADDRESS_PROPERTY_TYPE_CD = 1, Ordinal_nbr = 1

Acquired from CCARCS, but updateable in CAWIS.

As the first step of the nightly sync, CCARCS will pull CAWIS contact data (phone/fax/email) and apply it to the matching client_id on the CCARCS side, if the Update date on the CAWIS side is LATER than the one found in CCARCS.

Therefor in step 2, ALL of the most up to date contact data is then exported into the CCARCS view CARS_DAILY_CAIS_MASTER.

So all of the CONTACT data differences found on the CCARCS side, are then pulled into CAWIS as they are deemed to be the most “recent”

NOTE: the CCARCS/CAWIS exchange of contact data uses Y50.CLIENT_ID to pull the newest data for each owner. However, in CAWIS a single CLIENT_ID can be tied to any number of PARTY_IDs (based on differences in company spelling, trade names and addressing) Its important to note that the same contact data must be applied to ALL addressing records linked to each party_id for a single client_id for the data exchange to function properly

DATE DAMAGED

DATE_DAMAGED_DTE

Y02_AIRCRAFT_HISTORY

Cannot be earlier than year of manufacture or greater than current date.

The Client provides Date damage occurred (Y02_table) during AAIR submission. If a Damaged date was provided in a previous reporting year, but NO repair date was ever provided, that Damaged date will continue to appear each year on the AAIR page, until such time as the operator provides a Repaired-date.

When a Y02 record is found to have both a DAMAGED date and a REPAIRED date, the overnight job (beginning 3rd week of December of any given year) will insert a NEW Y02 record having NULLS in both the damaged and repaired date fields, so the damaged date will come up null for the next reporting year.

NOTE: the CLIENT can also NULL out a damaged date without providing a repair date. This gets recorded to the Y05 log file

Beginning of Out-of-Service (OOS) period. If the beginning of the OOS period, falls within the current year, the operator is obliged to file an AAIR for this year during the next AAIR issuance cycle beginning in January (zero hours or otherwise)

When this column was added in 2018, the default for this date was the earliest Y02 start date where the Estimated Return to Service date was found.

If the OOS date range covers an entire calendar year, AAIR’s are inserted with received dates, and zero flight hours recorded for the OOS years

ESTIMATED RETURN TO SERVICE

DATE_EXPECTED_RETURN_DTE

Y02_AIRCRAFT_HISTORY

Figure 3 - Compare to CCARCS feature

Compares listed data element from the 5008 file to those found on the Y93 table

Note: the CCARCS “Airport” field is incorrectly mapped to the CAWIS “Based District”

Special note : Flight Authority “C” - Owner Maintenance (OM)

Effective 18 July 2000, CAWIS was enhanced to facilitate the management of the 5008 files for the new Owner Maintenance (OM) category of aircraft.

Standard 507 - Flight Authority (CARs)

Background

When an aircraft gets older (40+ years or so) it can become uneconomical to maintain, in terms of inspections and compliance with Airworthiness Directives, so the owner takes over maintenance of the aircraft themselves.

It was decided that all AIRCRAFT/ENGINE/PROPELLER models found on these aircraft, were to be suffixed with an “X”. CCARCS also assigns an X to their OM aircraft models.

Any “new” models generated by OM conversion (changing a Flight Authority to “C” and saving the 5008 file) are assigned the type-approval “NOT CERTIFICATED”

NOTE : If you change a flight authority from C-owner maintenance  to anything else, you need to clean up all the models on that file OR ALL THOSE MODELS WITH X’s on the end will go to the NOT report

Airworthiness Directive (AD) & Annual Airworthiness Information Report (AAIR) Distribution

OM aircraft are treated the same as Amateur Builts in that

1 – Submission of an Annual Airworthiness Report is still required

2 – they are not obliged to comply with AD’s as all their equipment is now considered an Amateur variant of a type-approved product and these aircraft are not included in AD distributions. A TAIL MARK search on the AD website will NOT provide information to the operator (other than a list of their “X” models in the header)
