Airworthiness Directives - ADD/Modify Mode

Fig 1 - New AD (ADD mode)

DATA ELEMENT OR BUTTON

DESCRIPTION

AD NUMBER

Airworthiness Directive Number

Canadian Format : CF-YYYY-NN (CF-YY-NN for 20th century issued ADs, unless revised after 1999)

All other numbers : Not entirely standardized. The AD number is provided by the issuing authority. All countries format their AD numbers differently. The USA and Brazil use the same format (YYYY-MM-NN) and can only be differentiated by country code

REVISION NUMBER

Default is Zero. Alternately there can be any number of revisions issued for any given AD. (The current maximum found is 9)

YEAR

Year of issuance of the original AD. Does not appear on external website.

COUNTRY

ENTRY DATE

Default is current date. The Technical Inspectors (TI) will occasionally back date an AD when “old” ADs are being entered for a “newly acquired product” on the Canadian register

ISSUING AUTHORITY

LAST UPDATED (DATE)

Default is current date.

UPDATED BY (USERID)

ADD (MODELS)

see fig 2

Click ADD, goes to a new screen where Mfg/models are selected to apply to this AD. Will allow any combination of Mfg/Models. Inspectors can allocate New manufacturers for Equipment types

SERVICE BULLETINS OR REFERENCE

Service bulletins (SBs) are issued by the manufacturer against specific models, so not ALL SBs necessarily apply to EVERY model against as AD. Once models have been applied to the AD, the SB titles are entered as freeform text, the user clicks a checkbox beside the desired models and the SB note is applied to those models on the C10 table

CANCELLED OR SUPERSEDED

Has this AD been cancelled or superseded ? All of the “doc available” flags are to be unchecked , removing links to any documents on the public website.

A cancelled AD is to appear on the search page without links, with a subject indicating its current disposition.

If superseded by a new AD, it requires the new superseding AD country/number be entered in the subject.

Would likely be set to “No” on a new entry, but there are occasions where “old” cancelled ADs are entered for completeness

ATA CODE

see fig 3 - Inspector selects an ATA code, default is 00

ATA (aka JASC) codes refer to the section of the aircraft being examined
